Should toddlers 'eat what they are given' or nothing at all?
We decided not to do the "finish your food or else" style of feeding with our child. We offer our son 3 complete meals a day and he can snack when he is hungry (only on healthy foods of course) and we have found it really successful. Our son has tons of energy, will for the most part eat what ever food he is offered (not all of it) but he happily will munch on a piece of broccoli in fact its one of his favorite foods. He is not a fussy eater at all we have avoided having food become a source of conflict in our house. Because he models on us he will do most of his eating at meal times but as he is allowed healthy snacks whether or not he finishes dinner is never an issue.
