Is their any way to overcome depression on your own without some type of pill?
Mate, I'd seriously think about seeing your doctor and taking some pills, depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, not just an emotion, it's a real physical ailment, and like any other condition is usually best treated with some medication. If you really don't want to do that then I would suggest exercise. I know when you are depressed you can hardly haul your out of bed, but the hormones and chemical released by doing some exercise are the same ones that will haul your brain out of depression. You don't have to make it a big workout, just get out of the house and walk for 30 minutes every single day. It will make a world of difference. Once you've done that for even a week you will notice a difference. At 18 your life is just starting, you have not failed, you can go on and do whatever it is you want. But you need to get happy first. Start walking, see a doctor. Best of luck to you.
