We are thinking about carpeting the bedrooms of our hardwood-floored home. Will this decrease the resale value?

No, most homes built before 1975 have hardwood floors, and most people like carpet. It is very expensive to have hardwood floors finished, especially if they aren't in very good condition to begin with. They are cold as heck in the winter with bare feet. It's almost as bad as ceramic tile.
